Maya Angelou: A Life of Inspiration

Maya Angelou, a legendary woman, renowned African American poetess, vocalist, autobiographer, and civil rights champion was born on April 4th, 1928,. She is renowned for her vivid, powerful and persuasive prose, which has imparted a long-lasting impact on people across the globe. Her heritage continues to inspire numerous souls around the world, her life epitomizes the essence of living a life with a purpose and significance.

Harrowing Childhood and Adversities

Born in St. Louis, Missouri, She was brought up by her grandmother in Stamps, Arkansas and later lived with her mother in San Francisco.  During her upbringing in the South during the Great Depression, she was witness to poverty, racial discrimination, and violence, but she discovered solace in the pages of books, which became a source of inspiration and optimism.
